Exclamation Carb Help! Please

Carb Needle Adjustment???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all.......

Newbie here looking for a little help with my pocketbike.
I pulled it out from under the workbench after a year of setting up.
Pulled the carb off to give it a good cleaning and put it back together, I noticed after I put it all back together and started it up, I can run the idle screw all the way in and all the way out and it just dies.

On the needle, there are I believe 5 adjustment settings, What is the difference in running the clamp up versus down? What is the best adjustment to set this at?

Also,
My buddy gave me this bike about 2 years ago after blowing the engine and I put a new stock motor with a jetpro pipe on it.
Is there a way to tell the exact make or model number on these...mta-1, mta-2, etc...? The bike kind of looks like a Lucky 7 model (same paint scheme) but it does not have the rear wheel fender like the luckies do and the frame looks a little different in the rear area.

Sorry for the headache.......lol

nice bike it is a lucky7!

the needle clip adjust your air/fuel ratio from 1/4-3/4 of throttle

usually start with clip in the center.

if you added that pipe then chances are you'll need to increase the main jet size which is the little brass screw with the hole in the middle sticking straight down inside the float bowl.

also make sure your pipe is sealed up if its leaking inbetween the joints where it connects you'll have all kindsa problems the flow in the pipe is supposed to compress.

i bet your bike isnt running cuz the fuel petcock switch is clogged.

So you can tell by the frame?

Yeah, the pipe leaks in both where the pipe bolts to the cylinder head AND where the two pipes connect. I have tried to fix this but cant find anything to stop the leak. The pipe didnt come with any type of gaskets when I got it. Is there anywhere you can buy aftermarket exhaust gaskets?

yep the hkmotos gaskets are ok but to tell you the truth imo they all suck! after making a custom 3 layer stainless steel gasket for my quad i'll never go back to anything else! it was hard to make, time consuming and expensive (carbide bits) but totally worth it.

as for where the pipes meet check out benefields quad thread he used some kinda rubber muffler clamp off a dirt bike and it looks and works great! also it helps if you rub some of that red header rtv on the outside of the header pipe let it dry then connect it to the expansion chamber.

also is that a real jet pro or a china pro jet? if its the china pipe that manifold that comes with it has a tiny hole thats no where near the size of the exhaust port it needs opened up quite a bit and the cylinders port needs matched as close as possible. that manifolds tubing also needs cut down about an 1" and the flange needs milled flat so it can seal.

ohh and yah lucky7 has ladderbar style frame with removable swingarm

yeah, its a real jet pro. the exhaust pipe where it meets the head is about 1 1/4 to 1/2 opening. not sure if the cylinder port is the exact, never really checked. if not, is that something i can open myself with a carbide grinding tip maybe? i hate how it leaks also because it spits the black from the exhaust all over my shoes when i ride it! i am gonna check that thread out and see what he used for sure!

yep you can port it up shouldnt be too hard.

also check out my quad thread i think i have pics somewhere in there about that 3 layer gasket i made the main thing is it'll last a life time and can be reused as many times as you like i recommend anyone with these engines make one.

since thats a real jet pro the headers exhaust hole should be close to the cylinders port its the chinese ones that need a lot of work.
