Angry My brand new shifter wont fit

I just got this https://www.pocketbikeparts.com/Phot...ode=FSSF301947 chrome shifter for my x-18 and when I tried to put it on the square part where the shaft engine is goes in only about 1cm and I cant get it into the engine fully because me engine is right on it when I try to screw it in wit the hex screw it falls off when I start my bike... can I take off the cover and then put my shifter on or will that be useless.. or would It be smart to shave off the square part of the shifter so It can fit.. it doesnt need that much more room to fit but as right now it doesnt even go to the 2nd shaft part of the engine it just barely gets to the first one. does anyone know what I can do/??

first off...dont buy from a site that looks cheezy and cheap. it just tells you how much they care and how much they really make...

well the shifter is kinda cool we were talking about that site! nobody really has any luck with them.

and if you look at pit bike shifters for the crf50's and so on i think you'll find one you really really like! its cnc'd aluminum and way thicker then any of the others. its used on the top model pit bikes costing like $3,000+ and since the pit bikes use the same parts as the x18's it'll fit!

I do not know who told you this but it is completely off base. Just a few examples from spending 2 minutes on there site would be out of the 7 air filters they claim fit the X18, only 2 actually will as all the others will hit the frame, there 26mm taper bore carb kit that they claim fits comes with way long of a manifold, it will hit the e-starter, and skipping all the others to get to one of my favorites, they claim the 160cc KLX big bore kit fits a stock X18 engine. They would not know a properly fitting part if it slapped them in the face.
